Attributes
Attributes are custom fields you define — the blank slate that shapes Items, Lots, Documents, and your BYO Storefront designer. You never edit TrackJewelry's structure; you build your own.
Creating a field
On the Attributes page, choose:
- Which page it's for — Items, Lots, Documents, or BYO Storefront.
- Field name — what you'll call it.
- Type of information — text, number, long text, yes/no, date, or list of choices.
- Required — whether it must be filled in.
- Iterable (lists only) — "create one item per selected choice." When on, selecting several choices generates one item per choice — and if two fields are iterable, every combination.
List choices
Each choice can have:
- Value — the full text sent to integrations (for example to the 3D designer).
- Short code — what people see, e.g. "RD" for Round.
- Pictures — optional image when unselected and when selected.
Adding many at once (CSV)
Use Upload CSV — no header row:
- Column A: choice value
- Column B: short code
- Column C: metal (only for fields with metal colours)
- Column D: picture URL
- Column E: picture URL when selected
Existing choices are skipped, never duplicated. Download the example CSV next to the button to see the format.
Metal colours
On BYO Storefront list fields only, tick Has metal colours and each choice can carry a picture per metal: 14K Yellow Gold, 14K White Gold, 14K Rose Gold, 18K Yellow Gold, 18K White Gold, or Platinum. Type the metal name exactly. The metal only decides which picture shows — it isn't part of the value sent to the designer. Other attribute pages do not show metal-colour controls; any previously saved metal details are preserved.
Pulling from another list
Pick Pull from another list as the type to let a field choose entries from your Contacts, Vendors, Items or Lots — for example a "Supplier" field on Lots, or "Items in this lot". Several entries can be picked. For Contacts you can limit the field to customers, vendors or other contacts. Choices always come live from that list.
Editing
- Rename any field with the pencil control.
- Edit a choice's value, short code, and pictures with the pencil beside it.
- Conditional fields — a list field can be shown only when another list field has certain values.
Rules worth knowing
- Field names on BYO Storefront fields must match the designer layer they control exactly.
- Switching a list field to another type deletes its choices (you'll be asked to confirm first).
- New users: use Create starter fields to add Head Shape, Head Size, Shank Style, and Shank Size instantly.
